I cant say enough good things about our experience with Stuart Serota, with closing the purchase, and sale of our first apartment in NYC. He was on top of every single detail, and really eased the stress on a first time buyer. Very professional, very knowledgeable and easy to work with. We even used him again for buying our house. I would highly recommend using Stuart, he is as good as they come.

stuart was kind and personable until i signed a retainer, then became difficult to reach and unforthcoming over the phone. told me before signing a retainer that we would be able to use the same retainer to apply to a different apartment if the seller of this one backed out, then once that happened informed me that he would need me to sign another $3000 to continue working with him. other lawyers do not do this and either keep working with you until you close or charge a small fee. moreover, when i asked him to look over the purchase contract with me, he refused, saying it would take him too much time, but that i could ask him whatever questions i had. again, other attorneys that charge less do (and should) agree to look over these things with you, and you should not be expected to understand a binding legal document like that just reading it over on your own. retainer salesman that does the bare minimum once you sign. find someone else.

My brother and I are forever grateful for Stuart's excellent legal services not simply because he did an excellent job putting together the estate planning for our mom and managing the legal aspects of the sale of our house; but more importantly because he made our mother feel comfortable with all of it and that in my opinion is invaluable. My mom is what you might call a "tough cookie" and especially in matters of finance and some personal decisions. Stuart had the right combination of kindness, straightforward answers and humor that worked perfectly in making her feel good about all of the matters he helped us with. I would give him more than five stars if possible. For myself, legal counsel is very much about relationships as well as the nuts and bolts of getting the work done and Stuart really shined for us on both counts. My highest recommendations.
