Carney Appleby Law Firm is one of the best in the business for everything from business matters to family law and more. I’m a middle-aged father who has been going through a lot since 2023. Katrina Raisch represented me through my divorce, which started and was resolved promptly in 2023, and I ended up with 50/50 custody of my daughters. A couple of years later, in 2025, my ex filed a modification seeking primary custody of both girls. It’s been a roller coaster ride, to say the least, including a long year of back-and-forth and even hiring a CFR. Through it all, Katrina stayed on top of every detail and never left me wondering what was happening. In the end, she secured the outcome any father could hope for — my ex did not get primary custody. Katrina is a straight shooter who tells you exactly how it is, whether it’s what you want to hear or not. She’ll also be the first to tell you if you’ve handled something wrong. She answers questions promptly, clearly, and accurately. I would recommend any man going through a divorce to put his situation in Katrina’s hands — she will handle it and fight for the best outcome possible. Lawyers like her are hard to find. Divorce is hard and can make you question everything, so there’s no sense in carrying that burden alone. Contact Katrina — she’ll take care of you. Advice from someone who’s been through it: stay kind, stay humble, keep it simple, document everything, don’t send anything on texts, email, voicemail, paper you don’t want a judge to see and always practice BIF — brief, informative, and factual. Katrina will do the rest. I’m incredibly thankful that I had Carney Appleby Law Firm representing me, and I wouldn’t hesitate to call them again in the future.
Danielle Dunne took my case and worked with me from out of state. Danielle was professional, personable and kind throughout my case. Danielle was patient and explained things to me as I had never needed legal advice before. I have been very happy with how I was represented and would refer anyone to use Carney Appleby Law Firm.
I worked with Danielle Dunne and she was outstanding!! After being turned down by a couple other lawyers, Danielle was confident she would be able to take me on. Always kept that line of communication open and kept me up to date on what was going on. She always stayed calm and realistic, which is something I definitely needed going through what I was going through. She fought with me until the very end and the outcome was exactly what I asked for/expected. I would recommend her to anyone for representation, she is worth it 100%!!
Katie raisch was an amazing lawyer I wish she was able to represent me till the end but she had maternity leave. which is okay! However my case was taken over by Danielle dunne right at the end! Danielle is caring and she’s really great at responding. However when taking over my case she didn’t highlight me and my story. When on the stand Danielle highlighted my affidavit. She asked questions about what each picture meant and what I was doing? I didn’t need my pictures represented….I needed my story to be told. I think maybe she was hoping to get more information from me. Danielle seemed so nervous. When the judge told her to start asking other things her questions were everywhere. It was all a mess which made both of us look bad. While the others were making statements she looked over to me to ask if it was true or not and sure a couple questions are ok but it was ALOT and so distracting. I thought she should know this already if she was prepared. Anyways to wrap this up I think it could have been great if she knew what happned from beginning to end but I don’t think she took the time to fully understand, prepare and grasp what happened and I wish she had. Evidence that was there she failed to ask about. This law firm has some really great people! Danielle is caring and she responds but if it’s in the middle of your case I’d avoid switching to her. Make sure you start with her so she is clear on things that happned.
I cannot say enough great things about Jasper Verhofste! He was instrumental in helping me successfully settle my Iowa Civil Rights Commission Housing Discrimination complaint against my former landlord. I contacted easily a dozen other Landlord/Tenant & Civil Rights Attorneys, before finding Carney Appleby Law, and each inquiry ended with the other attorneys saying that the case "didn't fall within" their areas of practice. I was close to giving up on finding legal representation when I sent an inquiry to Jasper's firm. Within a few hours I received a call from Jasper for our free consultation, and I quickly knew I'd found an attorney who not only cared about me and my case, but was extremely knowledgeable about the ICRC complaint process. Throughout the few months we worked together, I was really impressed with Jasper's quick & thoughtful communication, as well as his ability to advise me while still respecting my wishes and opinions. I could not have gotten through the mediation process without him! There was a point where the mediator requested clarification on a whole list of claims from my former landlord, and I felt a bit defeated, but Jasper reassured me that it was normal for the mediator to kind of push back a bit, and not to give up. Because of this, I was able to write out thorough clarifications/accounts which were instrumental in supporting my settlement counteroffer, and it was quickly accepted by my former landlord! Because of Jasper's guidance, we were able to negotiate a large settlement amount (especially for a housing discrimination case), and necessary training for my former rental staff. Additionally, Jasper was so compassionate, and made sure that my retainer went as far as possible, because he knew I was disabled and low-income. I strongly recommend Jasper and Carney Appleby Law! Thank you for making this process a thousand times less stressful than it would've been without your help!
I highly recommend Danielle Dunne! I was connected with Danielle after calling multiple attorney offices that were not interested in trying to understand my issue. She took the time to listen to me, understand my situation and was able to resolve my issue. It was a great experience working with her!
Katie Raisch is a wonderful attorney to work with. I would highly recommend her. As a person, She is sincere, honest, understanding, and empathetic. As an Attorney, extremely efficient, prompt, professional, and client-centric. I cannot recommend her enough. Also a shout-out to the wonderful team that works with Katie at Carney Appleby Law.
