I contacted this law firm asking if I had a case. Robert Klein said I did. While he didn't promise the moon, he did a great sales job and I bought it hook line and sinker. A complicated case (In my mind) and after two years the billable hours have racked up to an enormous debt. Robert eventually dumped me onto Kurt Klein and David- other lawyers in the firm. Each time these hours were posted I said I don't have the fund for this. I repeated this over and over. Oh but you'll win. The win would pay for the hours and everyone would get a nice pay day. Well that didn't happen. They lost in court. And I'm stuck paying a bill that would empty my retirement. I asked if we could come to a smaller amount for the bill. Nope- they won't budge a bit. Stay away from this firm. The talk a good game but in the end you could be out tons of your hard earned cash.

This is Robert Gentry, President of the Gold Coast Neighborhood Association in Honolulu, Hawaii. We are a 501(c)(3) neighborhood organization comprised of 10 ocean front condo and co-op buildings with about 500 units. We were founded in 2002. The indigenous Hawaiians built a sea wall along the ocean (in front of what became our properties) almost 100 years ago, way before our current community existed. This sea wall provided ocean access to the shoreline, and to the ocean throughout the entire time of it's existence. Shortly after the formation of our neighborhood group we petitioned the State of Hawaii to repair the 100 year old structure and make it safe for the public to access the oceanfront and the ocean. The State never took the responsibility to repair the structure, so our elected State representatives in the House and the Senate urged us to file a law suit. We did just that and engaged Robert Klein to handle our case. His professional experience and his expertise was exemplary. His knowledge of the law, the State, and the issues brought us a successful ruling from both the Circuit Court and the 3 member Appeals Court. Both said that the State is responsible for the sea wall, and in fact owns the facility, and all the land under the sea wall. The State appealed the case to the Hawaii Supreme Court, and it ruled that the State indeed owns an easement across the top of the sea wall for public access to the ocean front, and the ocean. Now we have a majority of jurists, looking at this case, ruling in behalf of our issue for public access and safety. And, they have firmly assigned the liability of any injury to the State of Hawaii. Robert Klein's ability in this complicated case was extraordinary, for he was, and is, committed to ocean access on behalf of the public. He now has helped establish firm case law for the future of safe ocean access for the people of Hawaii. It will be very difficult for future developers and private property owners to prohibit the public from their right to the ocean in Hawaii Our organization speaks very highly of Robert Klein, and urges potential clients to consider engaging him, and his team, in any legal action they may need.
