I would strongly caution anyone considering McMahon Surovik Suttle, P.C. in Abilene for a complex divorce involving financial issues and asset tracing. In my opinion, Kelly Gill handled the first phase of my mother’s divorce extremely poorly. Over approximately $24,000 in legal fees was incurred before even reaching mediation in what initially appeared to be a relatively straightforward divorce. As the case progressed, it became clear there were substantial financial tracing and reimbursement issues that were not being pursued aggressively or strategically. Rather than thoroughly investigating the financial discrepancies and advocating for a fair outcome, the focus appeared to be primarily on getting the case settled quickly. I was very disappointed in the level of legal strategy, financial analysis, and overall advocacy provided. After changing counsel to Stacey Barber Law, PLLC out of Lubbock, the difference in competence, attention to detail, and understanding of the financial aspects of the case was night and day. Stacey Barber immediately identified issues and pursued avenues that should have been addressed much earlier. If your divorce involves complicated finances, hidden assets, reimbursement claims, or tracing issues, I would strongly recommend doing extensive due diligence before choosing representation.
