I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience seeking help from the Legal Aid Department that frequently advertises their services to veterans at the VA. Despite knowing our VA disability ratings and income levels upfront, they informed me that I ‘make too much’ to qualify for assistance. This feels like a contradiction and a waste of time for veterans who genuinely need legal help, especially when the department promotes their services as veteran-friendly. It comes across as if they simply don’t want to put in the effort to support us. Unfortunately, my experience suggests that they do not assist veterans in the way they claim. I hope they reconsider their approach to truly serve the veteran community as promised."

I want to share my frustration regarding the Legal Aid Department that regularly visits the VA and claims to assist veterans. Despite being fully aware of veterans’ disability ratings and incomes, they informed me that I was ineligible for help because I supposedly earn too much. This is particularly disappointing because they promote their services as veteran-focused, yet it feels like they’re not willing to put in the work to actually support us. In reality, it was a letdown and a waste of time, as their assistance did not align with their promises. I hope they reconsider how they handle veteran cases in the future."

Horrible customer service and they need to do a whole overhaul of their customer care. I do not recommend this place. Very rude and nasty attitude with the person that I spoke too plus I called I know at least 5 times and got a voice recording before I got through to someone. Waste of my time.

Spoke with someone back in August regarding an issue I needed assistance with, was told that division was closed for the month and would reopen next month. Called again 30 days later and was told they don’t handle that issue at all, despite them having it listed on the website and phone service as a service they provide. If you have financial situations you need legal help with, they apparently don’t do that, at all.

Well the reviews are spot on. So rude and acted like I was stupid for asking for help.

The woman who called me back was not just rude, but when I asked if she could point me in the direction of someone who could help since she couldn’t, she responded "No". Nothing else, not an inkling of help. If you can’t help, at least be kind about it and pretend you care that a family is struggling to know what to do and where to turn. She was cold and rude and I would like to recommend to her superiors that you give her the opportunity to be happy somewhere else. If we’re calling Legal Aid, we’re already having a hard time.

The person I spoke to on the phone briefly had an air of annoyance and wouldn’t let me speak. Compassion goes a long way. I doubt anyone that has to call legal aid is in a good place, so showing some kindness would help ease the burdens of folks in a position of need.
