Several years ago I was viciously attacked by an unattended dog which had escaped out the front gate onto the sidewalk. The block was on a rather steep incline and I had gotten off the bike and was walking my bike up the sidewalk when I noticed the dog. I stopped in my tracks so I would not alarm the loose dog. Before I realized what was about to happen, the dog came charging at me, totally unprovoked. I felt what seemed like a nudge from the dog on my left calf. I thought, I'd better get the heck out of here before the dog bites me, so I attempted to mount the bike. When doing so, my left leg was not able to support the weight of my body and I fell to the ground.
