People sometimes forget authors are regular people with lives just like ours. Lawrence Fisher is one of those people: He grew up fighting for his independence and his voice. He grew up in a world that wasn’t always kind and forgiving. In the end, Lawrence became a very successful lawyer who became an equally successful poet and story-teller. Those formative, early years provided him the unique and down-to-earth insight we all enjoy in his writing and how he relates to clients with difficult legal issues. His ability to address some tough topics with both sensitivity and realness make for a great read as well as a great experience. I have read all 3 of Lawrence Fisher's published books. Though true crime is not my favorite genre, I found both "Memory of a Milk Carton Kid" and "Victim of the System" to be compelling reading. In one instance, I agreed with the author's viewpoint; in the other, I had a much different point of view. In both instances, however, I was drawn to the well crafted stories. Saving the best for last (imho), I liked "Dog Dreams" a lot, right down to its excellent title. What a history Mr. Fisher has with dogs -- that's what I gleaned from it all, and what better place to resolve it all than in dreams. Where does a dog go in dreaming? My favorite poem is "Buen Perro", in Spanish translation. While I find the English version, "Good Dog", to be a great poem, the Spanish version, when read aloud, has a rhythm that gives the poem an almost carnivalesque, joyful spin on its otherwise somewhat existential, almost bleak outlook.

Lawrence is an excellent attorney, with the intellect, work ethic, and experience to bring you the best result you can get. Highly recommended.
