Mr. Janis, who is an attorney, participated in our auction and agreed to our clearly posted terms, which state that items are sold as-is and that we do not guarantee authenticity unless explicitly noted. After winning a lot of six Morgan-style silver dollars, he later claimed one was inauthentic and demanded a full refund for the entire lot. We weren’t obligated to offer any refund—but in good faith, we refunded the value of the single coin in question. That should’ve been the end of it. Instead, Mr. Janis chose to post a one-star review filled with misleading claims and legal hairsplitting, despite accepting the partial refund. He tries to argue that the distinction between "condition" and "authenticity" overrides the plain language of the terms he agreed to—something you’d expect an attorney to understand. The entire interaction felt less like a good-faith dispute and more like someone trying to leverage their professional background to strong-arm a small business. In my opinion, this was a textbook case of buyer’s remorse that turned into public retaliation. Based on my experience, I would not recommend doing business with him.
