I was incredibly impressed with Lydia Hsu's approach to family law. She clearly prioritizes finding solutions that work for everyone involved, rather than simply focusing on winning. On one occasion, I was involved in sitting in on a hearing that was held virtually. There were several cases ahead of Lydia's, all of whom had attorneys present via Zoom. When it was time for Lydia's case, I didn't see her on screen, but then quickly realized she had shown up in court to appear live in front of the judge- a true testament to her work ethic and willingness to be present for her clients at all times. Lydia Hsu is thorough, while fair, and I would highly recommend her to anyone facing family law challenges.

I was recommended to Foster Hsu after spending months with another law firm attempting mediation for my divorce. I'm very glad I called them. I'm very happy with the very personal level of care and consideration my case was given. Lydia was as very strong advocate for me, and was very realistic when presenting different scenarios when I had hard decisions to make. Lillian, the Office Manager/Legal Assistant, was always very helpful and attentive to any questions I had. I would highly recommend this Firm based on the level of professionalism, and care they provide for their clients.

From attorney to attorney, I can say that without a doubt Lydia Hsu is the person you would want representing you in a family law matter. Not only is her knowledge of the law superb but she has the demeanor which both commands a room and is also compassionate to what her clients are going through. I have worked on joint projects with Lydia and have seen her work first hand...I can't recommend her enough.

Out of all the Family Law firms I have inquired about consult fees with, Foster Hsu was one of the more costly firms. One of the reasons I reached out was because I very much appreciate it being women owned. Consider other firms I communicated with have been in the Bay Area much longer, it was surprising. Since the legal matter I was inquiring about wasn’t what I would consider as complex as other family law areas, I really couldn’t justify their much higher hourly rate. I fully value lawyers’ expertise, and is willing to pay whatever retainer required. But for consults, I only see them as an interview to see if the attorney is a good fit for representation. My advice when seeking legal representation is to do multiple consults to find the best fit! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to do so with Foster Hsu. Although I tried to ask Lillian about matching the consult hourly fee I have been paying other lawyers, she stated she was unable to do so per firm policy. When finding legal representation, I recommend conducting multiple consults at a reasonable cost to find the best of the best legal representation, and invest in actual legal fees instead of just consult fees. And more importantly, find a law firm that is understanding.

In our line of work, we come across many life events, most notably, the unfortunate event of family law. Lydia is extremely professional, smart, detail orientated and stays on top of every task with immediate responses to other parties attorney or court. Lydia took immediate action when necessary. She educated me throughout the entire case 2 yrs. Being my child support case was very was complicated because my X partner and I were not married for 17 years we lived together and we have 3 children together. We didn't agree in mediation for visitation. We went through professional counselors to provide the courts with custody recommendations. Lydia is a very honest person and recommended that I always stick to the truth. My X said a lot of lies and she was right all the truth came out. She was able to help me win the children full time. I know I couldn't of done it without Lydia. Her cost was also very inexpensive compared to my X attorney fees were double. She avoided court costs whenever possible.

Kara is the absolute best attorney! She represented me throughout my divorce, got me full custody of my son and also had my ex-husband ordered to pay for all attorney's fees. She's super knowledgeable, professional, compassionate and diligent. Anytime I've needed her to file something for me it would happen the very same day. She has great communication skills and is such a charismatic person which makes her great at what she does. I plan on changing my son's name soon and I look forward to retaining Kara again for that. Divorce is such a challenging experience and she really eased the process for me alleviating so much stress and I'm forever thankful for that. She truly cares about her clients and their families, Kara always asks how my mother is doing whenever we speak whose health has been deteriorating in the past couple of years which always makes me smile inside that she even remembers. You definitely want to hire Kara if you want to be in good hands and have a competent, professional attorney handling your family matters.
