I came to Seattle Legal Services scared to death December 23rd after seeing a 2018 tax year I wasn't aware of that I owed a lot on. IRS was ready to levy, my notices from them were sent to the wrong address. The very next day, John took time on Christmas eve morning via zoom, and we talked. That's right, John took time on that day usually reserved for family time to talk. He calmed me down and made things clearer. Since, I have paid 100 percent of that 2018 tax year and the team got my last 6 years in order. John set up a plan for us, to keep me on my feet with a strategic plan in place going forward. Am I still scared? Absolutely! I made a mess of my taxes! But knowing I have a team like Seattle Legal Services there for me helps. I own every bit of this tax mess. Listen, if you are looking for someone to sugar coat things, probably look elsewhere. If you are looking for someone to tell you the truth, even if you don't like it, Seattle Legal Services is the place. John told me straight up what's probably going to happen and he was right. I needed honesty and truth. John is every bit of that. I have been a big baby throughout this whole process, and John has patiently walked me through it. This has probably been the toughest thing I have ever faced in my life financially, and having Seattle Legal Services has made things better. I will probably use Seattle Legal Services every tax year going forward. Even though we still have work to be done, and it will probably take time, I felt comfortable leaving a review now.
