I should've reviewed the reviews before placing my hope on getting guidance from here. The lady I spoke to was rude, short and extremely unhelpful. No professionalism in her tone or demeanor. She left a voicemail to call her back, and when I did she did not answer so I left a voicemail, but she never called back, I had to call again a few hours later and she answered so snarkily when I said I was returning a call for Legal Aid, she said "Yeah, I work at Legal Aid, what do you need?" I explained the situation briefly, "Yeah, okay, so who are you?" Like, what is that? She never even told me if she was an attorney or not. Just started asking me questions annoyed. Did not provide any useful information and would only get flustered and frustrated when I would explain I already did the very basic first suggestions she made and that's why I needed guidance, and she just kept saying "I don't know why they wouldn't answer you." Neither do I, that's why I wanted help! Nothing she told me really made sense, and made audibly annoyed sounds when I didn't understand, even after I told her I am not familiar with legal language, she did not change her approach at all, and made it uncomfortable to ask any clarifying questions. She also just laughed at me when I said I wasn't comfortable talking to one of the debtors because they've been harassing me and said, "Yeah, well, cause that's their job, so... yeah" Said it exactly like that, so callously. I can't believe that this agency works to support low-income communities who have enough to deal with and do not train their attorneys to be trauma-informed in the slightest. At least not this person, Jamelle or Demelle, was her name. I felt even worse after talking to this place. I wish I could afford a real attorney, this sucks.
If I could rate these services a zero I would . I filled out an online app, I called , and filled out another app . I expressed in the app that I am low income and can’t afford an attorney . They matched me with one attorney that when we had our free consult conversation he completely rushed me through the call and kept interrupting me . Which I didn’t expect from a fellow black man . I didn’t feel heard at all for him to then quota me 450/hr or 950$ for limited scope to get me through the next week of my custody investigation. I’m not sure what’s the point of lega ain’t for people in need if the goal isn’t to connect them with help they can afford or WANT to help for a discounted price.
I haven't had the best of luck with these guys honestly. The first couple of times I understood however the last few I don't know what's going on but everytime they say they'll get back to me it's crickets. Honestly it's extremely unprofessional that I have to constantly call back, email, etc and I get nothing. I can understand them being busy but at least say that instead of leaving me hanging. I've said this before and I'll say it again, I am EXTREMELY hesitant on reaching out and asking for help because every time I do I keep being told "someone will reach out to you soon." And then a week or two goes by and I've heard NOTHING.
Left me to fight a multibillion-dollar bank by myself. Won't even respond to questions even though told I could reach out for answers. I now have to flee the state to avoid freezing this winter. Mi sucks. Doesn't matter who I reach out too I get bounced around because help doesn't exist.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would there workers are lazy they take forever to get back to you very disrespectful don’t help at all literally do not care about the people in the community should really shut the place down and open up something that’s actually for the people and not the landlords !
I’m quite disappointed so far. I’ve reached out to legal aid 3 times now and after the latest phone call I am even more confused and angry now. The first call I made at the end of 2023, my debt was not enough. That’s acceptable. Later in 2024, my debts rose and I was then told in the beginning of November that I now qualify and the attorney on the phone recommended my case be transferred to a local office for someone to check out. Whether it would be accepted still was up in the air due to funds, which I can accept. It is low income assistance after all. Here’s what I just can’t accept: I called today after waiting through the 2-3 week period where it was claimed someone would reach out to me. Nobody has and I was informed on the phone today that nobody will unless they choose to take my case?! How can I know if my case is accepted if nobody will even send an email to tell me that? This isn’t customer service!!!! If I can’t even get a response on whether my case will be accepted or not, then I cannot recommend their service. Update: my spouse got an email back from their manager and all he asked for was our county, we responded and he said thanks. We have not heard anything back. Very poor customer service as I said.
It started with the "most unique case" Mr. Sass had seen in 30yrs.. And ended in the best positive outcome I could imagine! If not for your dedication and all the time you and your team spent on my case, I'd be struggling to find a place to call home for me and my kids. Mr. Sass was not only caring and supportive in helping me deal with the situation, but he also took the time to listen to me and he made sure I understood everything. For everything you do in life, I hope it always goes in your favor! I hope your pillow is cold on both sides, your charger works at every single angle, you NEVER stub your toe, you eat a FANTASTIC meal today and get lucky and find $20 on the floor! I hope you all have an amazing year because YOU DESERVE ALL OF IT!!
