Legal Aid of Western Michigan

After reading the last 2 reviews ( And the one I'm writing now.) seems as though the last 8 months things have changed.( Based the reviews from before that.) So what's changed there? Now on to my review. I was under the impression that a lawyer would come to our house to see Kate ( my wife.) and I. Unfortunately that was the wrong impression. Trying to keep this review nice, however it's hard to be nice when the help you seek is more of a pain than a help. I think the best way to end this review is hire an attorney plan and simple. Use them at your own pearle. In my opinion I think it about stats for them. "Don't take a case you think you can't win". Is an awful approach to take. Hopefully they can fix whatever happened there 8 months ago. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Mr. Sonny T. Bimbo

I've never heard back from them pertaining to my problems with my apartment complex. I contacted them after not hearing back from either of the Ordinance Enforcement Officers for Oshtemo Township on 7275 W. Main Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. I've emailed them twice since I was flooded by my neighbors sewage flooding my basement and countless attempts to my landlord to fix damages after I moved in. In November of last year I had an Enforcement Officer and a member of management out to do a walk through of my apartment. I expressed my concerns that I haven't had a lock on my back slider since I moved in. I also explained that there has been 4 floods on my basement up to that point 3 of which were caused by a single problem of a pipe from the A/C being clogged. When explaining this particular situation I was told to build shelves to protect my property. I was flabbergasted when the Enforcement Officer said that's how he prevents this in his home. I asked if he owned or rented, he owns. I pay rent and if I would have received prompt service from experienced maintenance I wouldn't need to go without a water heater for 3 days or have to purchase 2 dehumidifiers and and industrial fan to keep the basement dry and clean. Either way I wish someone would call me back because I've been going through a lot and only receive letters from my landlord about violations pertaining to my dogs which are emotional support animals. I've received 3 letters over the last year and each coordinate with a complaint I have with maintenance. I also have received 2 notices for 2 of my cars one had a flat tire and the other was expired plats for a car I wasn't using (my college son's car). I've looked through the parking lots and have seen disabled vehicles on top of not being registered that have been that way for months without a notice attached to those vehicles. I need help please. I've never paid my rent late, I receive a payment on the 3rd of the month to which my rent is automatically charged that day since move in 2 years ago

I cannot even begin to put into words how incredible my experience with Legal Aid has been. Divorce Court is a nightmare I never intended to deal with but I'm so happy to have had the team I did to help me through it. I may not have always heard what I *wanted* to hear but I was always given the best advice for my situation and for that I am so grateful. My advice is to trust the process, stay as calm as you can, and have faith in your counsel!

Keegan and Karen have been so great to work with, I had a big mess with unemployment but could not get through by phone or online to MIWAM. Without Legal Aid, I'd still be left wondering. I am so appreciative of them and the time they put into helping their clients! They responded fast, explained everything really well and got my issue taken care of. So grateful for them!

I love this place! Legal Aid of Western Michigan is great! they help individuals who have financial hardships get free legal advice. Of course they have a tight schedule helping everyone, but it's worth the wait I promise.

I found the Legal Aid of Western Michigan services to be excellent. Adam Freeman did an amazing job of helping me with an awful landlord, getting me out of a lease so I could move to a safe place. I’d recommend them to anyone who needs help.
