I speak the truth to all the families about to spend your money. This attorney has strung our family along for the last four years. At first, we heard all we wanted to hear. We agreed to pay $15,000 to represent my husband and we would be kept in the loop. Then, he was forced to sign a contract stating that our money was a gift and all communication stopped. Nothing was done in his favor. Mr. Byers did not even read his file. He hired someone else to do his MAR. 4 years later we have no answers except from the same excuses used over and over. Don’t waste your money! He speaks a good game but steals your money. Worst attorney and most unprofessional and uneducated staff. This office does not even know where his case currently is being heard. Mrs. Jonathan Poteat

Beware of this snake in the grass.! I really hope that no other family has to suffer from paying this man! He has constants turn overs in staff. His staff has no clue of the cases they are working on. It seems they have a list of excuses in your file that they pick and choose which one to use! They are incompetent and clueless of the law. He is never available if you’re able to get someone to answer the phone. You will never hear from his office unless you call for another excuse. Thousands of dollars and years later, were no better off than when we started.

Lawyers are lawyers. Their jobs are to read people and manipulate minds. Mr Byers is as manipulative as they come. With that being said, he is in high demand. He is a state and federal attorney and is very busy. He did not give me his cellphone number even after paying 10 grand so I would suggest you schedule frequent meeting as he will not miss them. He is not God therefore cannot predetermine the outcome of your case. Do not expect to be able to afford a top notch manipulator for an honest paycheck. For a measly 10 grand my charges of 1st DEGREE ATTEMPTED MURDER were reduced and I received 3 years probation. Another 15 grand could have gotten them dismissed. I’m not saying the court appointed lawyers couldn’t have done the same but Mr. Byers did it with confidence and style.

The absolute best lawyer!! He worked miracles for a case my child’s father had!! His case was very difficult. No other attorneys wanted to touch his case. Mr. Byers came in and blew everyone away. I would hire him over and over again!!

JD was not responsive or helpful at all! This was my family's first time experience with conflict with the law and had looked to JD for guidance and help with my brother's case. We paid the upfront fee of $1,500 as requested by his office but he did not even show up for my brother bill bond hearing...in fact he did not show up at all for anything. He did not even bother to call reach out to my brother to inquire about the case. In the end, we had to figure out the court system ourselves, reach out to the detective ourselves and eventually gave up after many attempts to reach JD over a span of a couple of months and got a different lawyer. JD was a waste of money and time with added stress!

Very terrible experience with him!. I hired him for My fiancé and he did absolutely no help to the situation, AT ALL. He then came and told my fiancé that he couldn’t do anything to help him after WEEKS of being hired but yet he took my money 2,500 to be exact! Without informing me that he couldn’t do anything about the situation. He told him exactly what the court appointed lawyer told him the outcome would be, he didn’t even change the situation a bit. then my fiancé had his plea signing and I was called and told that his court time would be at 11:10 am I get there and he’s already gone they went ahead and did it early but yet I get no phone call to inform me. I will not ever, EVER recommend anybody to them! May as well stick with your court appointed lawyer or find somebody else that’s for sure!

JD Byers is no nonsense, thorough, and has a mind like a steel trap. He has a great memory and recently was able to help me with information from over a decade ago. He is also very respected in the legal community and I strongly recommend him to anyone.
