As a senior trying to get guardianship of my grandchildren, I had searched and had consultations with regular attorneys who specialize in grandparents rights but they wanted entirely too much that I could not afford, so I reached out to legal aid through their Kinship Unit. After completing my online application last year, it took a minute to get connected to Ms. Haley Solomon. Haley was very responsive in working with me, making sure I had all the paperwork together, and met me at the courthouse to file our paperwork when the time came. Started the case in October 2024, we filed in May 2025 and she kept me abreast of the process. Fast forward to October of this year, and my case has been completed, and I have received temporary guardianship of my granddaughters! Big thank you to Ms. Haley Solomon!

⭐ 1 Star I reached out for help during one of the most stressful times of my life — facing unsafe living conditions and an upcoming court date with my child’s housing on the line. I followed every step they asked, sent emails, made phone calls, and even provided all documentation ahead of time. What I got in return was silence, delay, and confusion. No consistent follow-up, no real communication, and no sense of urgency even when time was critical. They make it sound like they’re here to help tenants and families in crisis, but when you actually need them, it feels like you’re set up to fail. People reach out to Legal Aid because they’re desperate, not because it’s convenient. When you ignore or delay responses, you’re not just "busy" — you’re playing with people’s homes, safety, and peace of mind. I truly hope this organization reevaluates how they handle cases and communication. No one should have to chase "help" when they’re already in survival mode.

I don’t understand, I thought Atlanta Legal Aid was a place where people can get legal assistance if they couldn’t afford it. Who can afford an attorney these days, especially on a $28,900 yearly salary. They don’t advertise that there is an income restriction not even on their website. Attorneys here in Georgia range on the average of around $363 an hour. They should have it to where if you are over the maximum income amount then you would have to pay a one time fee. Around $200-$1000 based on your income and a payment plan. That’s just my opinion.

Shane Mendez was very informative and professional in assisting me with my estate requests. Everyone there was extremely friendly and nice. It was a very pleasant experience with validated parking. The only criticism I would include is the process took about 3 weeks to get from start to finish. I was patient as I was thankful for the help, but would have liked for it to have been completed more timely. Other than that, no complaints. Thanks ATL Legal Aid Society!

I was told I would find help there but unfortunately they don't help non residents. I guess I can just die in the streets because I dont deserve to be helped if I am not American citizen or green card holder. I pay taxes in this country even if I am not a "resident". Please write clearly on your website that you don't provide help to non residents.
