I had an uncontested very straightforward divorce. We started 9 months ago and still are not divorced. The only time I have heard or recieved work from my lawyer is when I send an email first to ask for status and that cost me $20 per email. We put in a retainer for the expected cost of the uncontested divorce plus more for expected arbitration. We did not need arbitration. But the emails and change of address because both my hopefully soon to be ex-wife has changed over the last almost year since we started now we are over the retainer and continue to pay more.
