I needed to know what the seller of a new home is financially liable for after a traffic accident damaged the brick wall that separated the lawn from the sidewalk of the public street before the sale. The wall was damaged a week before the closing, but it has not been repaired and six months have passed. I was led to believe it would be by the seller's realtor at the closing. [This story is partly fiction to maintain everyone's privacy, but the "mustn't the seller pay for the damage?" question is the same.] Mr. Cooper was easy to talk to, reasonably informative, and quite clear: all I was hoping for. But I was very disappointed by the end of our initial, half-hour consultation because, even though I provided documentation from the realtor, his answer was basically "maybe." If I hadn't thought the seller was possibly responsible for the damage, I wouldn't have consulted Mr. Cooper. If he had said "No," I could have dropped the issue; if he had said "Yes," I could have asked what my next step should be. But as far as my question goes, I'm still as ignorant as I was before we spoke.

Michael Cooper seem like my earth angel today. I was referred to him and scheduled for today. After explaining my case to him, he said he was sorry his case load is too much and he will be available after the April 3rd. After making some recommendations for me, he returned my check and that moment I could not hold my tears. I remember telling him "God bless u" It wasn’t about the money but the compassion he had for me. God bless you and thank you sir 🙏🏿

I thought Michael Cooper was easy to talk with, not at all intimidating so your able to ask questions and concerns about your case. The one thing that struck me as odd with him as an attorney, is he didn’t tell me or didn’t seem to know about Oregon 20.080. Being in the profession for so long you’d think that would be something he would disclose to individuals trying to settle with an insurance company wither he wanted to represent them or not. Michael told me to just ask the adjuster for a reasonable settlement. If I would have listened to Michael, I definitely would have been lowballed. My goal in writing this review, is to inform other people seeking legal representation/advice to get a second opinion. Someone who believes in your case, and if they can’t help you,(like in my case with Michael Cooper) don’t let them make you feel you should just settle with what ever the insurance company is welling to give you.
