Phelan Ryan A

Ms. Phelan is an excellent attorney focusing on family and domestic relations law including Divorces, Parenting Plans, Wills Trusts Estates and Probate. Ryan has decades of experience and expertise. Ryan clearly practices law, primarily, to make the world a better place. She takes care of, and advocates well for, her clients. She is professional, courteous, straight forward, honest and effective. When litigating in court, Ryan is prepared, clear, calm, and effective. She knows what the court needs to hear in order to make the best decision. Ryan is also a Justice of the Peace pro tem, so she understands the Courts and Judges from both sides of the bench. Ryan is assertive but kind, strong but welcoming, and decisive but fair.

For $20k worth of bills, she did the bare minimum. Phone calls were rarely returned. Emails were ignored. Most of the action items discussed in in-person meetings were simply dropped. A restraining order, spring break parenting schedules, therapist permission signatures - all were stuck in the congested pipeline named We Haven't Heard Back from The Lawyer. Worst of all, she misrepresented the legal process to my boyfriend when she told him that he should first sign the divorce papers and that they would "work on the parenting plan later." In fact, the bad parenting plan was part of the dissolution agreement all along, and he was stuck having agreed to it. If I had a personal vendetta, I would take my complaint to the Montana State Bar. But since I do not, I’m just posting this here.

I have worked with Ryan on a number of occasions, for a variety of reasons. She is exceptionally skilled in multiple areas of the practice of law. She is kind, compassionate and intelligent. I highly recommend her.

Worst experience of my life! Questions weren’t answered, completely unprepared for settlement conference, didn’t seem to have much desire to defend her client’s position and interests and was disorganized. Costly divorce with a very disappointing outcome. Would never recommend to anybody!
