I wish I would have read the reviews prior to getting Ms. DeBoer to represent me in court. For $8k, ($7500 retainer and $500 consultation fee) I expected a whole lot more. Instead, I received a lot of billable hours and a lack of professionalism as mentioned by another reviewer. Your miles may very, but I did not have a satisfying working relationship. This is why a lot of lawyers get a bad rap because rather than provide value to the client and build relationships they are more concerned with billable hours.

Dawn South is the best divorce attorney out there, hands down! She knows the law front to back. Dawn was referred to me by a client of mine who hired her for her divorce. My world was turned upside down dealing with a very stressful and traumatic situation. Dawn came in taking care of things with ease. She’s a tuff attorney, but in a good way. Dawn had my back fighting for what was fair and right by the law. I’m so thankful and grateful I found her. My family, and friends were equally grateful. Dawns professionalism, knowledge, and vigor shows in her work. She’s no nonsense and one smart attorney. I love that about her! If you want an attorney to fight for you, she will do just that. Unfortunately, I have to confirm the reviews I’ve read from others on different forums. The communication from Dawn DeBoer was severely lacking. At my first trial, Dawn asked the judge for more time so that the parties could come to an agreement on support. The judge scheduled the trial for 4.5 months later. This time was not used constructively. I reached out to Dawn several times during this period and received no response. I didn’t hear from Dawn again until literally THE DAY BEFORE trial. This was not the first time she went completely dark on communication. It was really disappointing to have not heard from Dawn for four months, especially during such an important legal matter. To make matters worse, I received an unexpected invoice representing her time and her team’s time spent working on my case during the four-month period in which I didn’t hear from them. Dawn lacked empathy and professionalism.

As a family law attorney myself, Dawn is an outstanding family lawyer- I send all my clients with issues in Richmond to her. She has helped me immensely with issues when we have needed help for our clients in the Richmond area. She really knows what she is doing.

I met with Dawn South for a consultation and was left with the strong sense that she is not sympathetic to single fathers or to Men's rights. I was insulted repeatedly during my meeting and given the choice I would have refused to pay for the pleasure of being victim shamed for an hour. Then I was told I could not afford them without them knowing anything about me financially (it was obvious Dawn did not want to represent me) and having more than enough to pay her retainer on the spot. I have since found sound legal representation who was able to assist in my case effectively and without belittling me. Firms like this are the reason men get screwed in custody court. Look elsewhere.

Dawn South is a wonderful person, very professional. I always felt like family. I would highly recommend her to friends and family.
