Hired Marrs Law (Tom & Juliana) for a family law case which I was self representing myself. They helped settle without litigation. I'd recommend them if you need mature representation. I want to add: In general legal help is expensive. If costs are your problem you have to represent yourself (which is what I did). But the judges don't want to listen to self represented litigants (especially El dorado county), will deny your rights and apply their discretion (read: excessive power) leading you to the appellate courts which is 3X more expensive. So as with all legal matters (a) settle directly if not (b) self represent or (c) seek legal help. If you do end up with seeking legal help, you might as well hire an experienced attorney that can get the job done and that is what Tom and Julianna did.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this attorney. He over states and under delivers. He does not listen to his client’s directions and prefers confrontation with the opposing counsel hoping for expensive litigation. He is definitely in it for the money. His deliberate delays in returning my retainer makes me wonder about his cash flow and solvency.

I wish I could say my experience with Thomas Marrs helped move my family law case forward. Unfortunately, the opposite is true. He agreed—on record—to attend a court-ordered mediation, and then simply didn’t show up. That kind of no-show behavior derailed meaningful progress at a time when resolution was finally within reach. Throughout the case, Tom subbed in and out, even during key discovery windows, which created chaos and stalled momentum. His team wasn’t collaborative—they were confrontational and litigious, which only added tension and drove legal bills way up for everyone involved. He also submitted multiple inaccurate court orders (FOAHs), forcing me to go back to court just to correct the record. Even after clear rulings, he’d twist the outcome in writing. It delayed progress and cost time, money, and emotional energy—especially hard when you’re already juggling parenting. When I asked for a short extension to review one of these FOAH drafts while I was on a pre-approved family vacation, he refused. That lack of professional courtesy said a lot. There were also conflicts of interest involving expert witnesses that he failed to disclose—something any ethical attorney should know is unacceptable. When things started moving toward settlement, Marrs pushed for more litigation instead. If you’re looking for scorched-earth tactics, he’s your guy. If you’re hoping for fairness, resolution, and professionalism—this is not the attorney for you. Also added a photo from Toms wife Brooke.
