Orson West was the best choice for our family. He is very approachable, actually listened to our concerns, and he had great advice. He was available when we needed help making decisions, I recieved updates of my case through emails so I always knew where things were at, transparent with his fees, he's quick to respond and return our calls, very professional and kind. I would recommend him for family cases.

Orson West is constantly in hearings and on vacation, meanwhile his client, my daughter, hasn't seen her dad, me, in almost two months. My daughter's mother is waiting on direct words and instructions from Orson West, that my daughter can see me. I know he's not my legal representation, he's supposed to be acting in my daughter's best interest as the Guardian-at-Leitim but it seems like he's taking all the lies and horrible things his clients mother is saying about me, and not taking time to do his job and represent my daughter the best he possibly can.

I went with Steven Russell for my Divorce attorney. He was amazing! He answered every question I asked him and always got back to me within a timely manner. He explained things that i didnt understand and really worked with me in getting my divorce done. I would recommend him to my friends/family!

Mr. Steven C. Russell of CARVER, RUSSELL & WEST, LLC withdrew from my case after admitting to me that he would no longer adhere to our flat fee arrangement that we agreed to in my divorce case. His words: "So, beginning today, we start with a new fee agreement. I am not comfortable working with you on a flat fee basis. Instead, I will charge you like I do my clients that are on an hourly rate. I charge $250.00 per hour, rounding up to the nearest $5.00 increment. I have a minim fee of 10 minutes." For my part, I was unwilling to budge on our flat fee contractual agreement that was agreed upon to take us up to and including mediation. I was not willing to change the contract. I had already paid in full. Regardless of our contract, Mr. Russell would repeatedly send via email what it would have cost me if I had been billed hourly. Mr. Russell: "if I had billed you hourly, you would have paid almost [redacted dollar amount], by now, rather than the [redacted dollar amount] you paid. So, you are ahead, to this point." Mr. Russell also sent a terse email to me that I perform my own work on the case, in the following instance to edit a PDF of the stipulations sent by the other lawyer: "edit it and send it back as a counter offer". I didn’t have the software to edit a PDF for one thing, and I was upset that Mr. Russell was having the other lawyer do so much of the work, without his willingness to put time into the resolution of my case. Attorney Russell: "I just emailed to you what you would pay if I was charging $250/hr through February 24. This should help you see what goes on. I am trying to have [redacted] do the work to keep your fees down. We can switch to an hourly rate if you prefer." Keeping my fees down? Again, we had a flat fee arrangement. Further, from Steven C. Russell: "I am happy to be more aggressive, but I will need you to pay more in fees." Prior to Steven’s withdrawal, from Steven: "Just before the mediation, it appeared that we had reached an agreement. So, I cancelled the mediation and decided that, rather than charge you the additional [dollar amount redacted] to finish the divorce, I would just take that fee out of the mediation cost, that we had saved." Unfortunately, Mr. Steven Russell of CARVER, RUSSELL & WEST, LLC, made decisions on his own, and was ultimately unwilling to finish the divorce as he said he would, finally stating: "You and I did not agree to enter into a lengthy negotiations process. I will be withdrawing. Good luck." Minutes later, I was copied on the documents Steven sent to the court as his withdrawal. I forgive Mr. Russell, and feel as part of that process the need to bring closure to my dealings with him by at least presenting to would-be clients of Mr. Steven C. Russell the details of my interactions with this attorney, so they are adequately prepared to make an educated decision before entering into a contractual agreement to have him represent them in legal matters.

Orsen West was a great mediator, he did a great job for us! I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a mediator in the SLC Valley.
