I retained this attorney to complete a limited scope matter: finalizing paperwork related to a CR2A that had already been completed. I paid over $10,000 for this work. From the beginning, communication was inconsistent. Scheduled calls were frequently postponed or canceled, and billing was not provided in a timely or transparent manner. Charges continued to appear long after substantive work on my case had ended, and invoices trickled in over the course of more than a year. I repeatedly requested a final bill, but billing continued even when no additional work was being performed. When I ultimately disputed additional charges totaling several thousand dollars and declined to pay them, her office pushed back but then communication from the attorney ceased entirely. I was also told the attorney was "preparing for trial," despite the fact that the matter was governed by an existing CR2A and was never procedurally headed toward trial. Additionally, I was informed that opposing counsel was a former college roommate of this attorney. While I was told this did not constitute a conflict of interest, it is something that I believe was a conflict of interest and the case dragged on unnecessarily. Her paralegal even went to work for the other attorney while she was still on my case. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this attorney. I paid a substantial amount of money and did not receive clear value, consistent communication, or reliable billing practices.

If you don’t know Canadian family law then you shouldn’t be practising it. It doesn’t take seven months to review an order and file an application to the court, which was done after the hearing in Vernon registry you’re part of many of the problems that I’ve encountered in 13 years of going to court with incompetent and negligent lawyers there’s no point in even making a complaint to Law society because they always uphold the lawyers bad decisions
