The attorneys I’ve interacted with at this firm have provided sound legal advice and demonstrate a thorough understanding of how HOAs function. They’ve been professional, responsive, and knowledgeable in every interaction I’ve had. It’s unfortunate to see that they have received some negative reviews, as my experience has been consistently positive and reflective of a firm that truly values its clients and provides quality legal guidance.
I have worked with three attorney's at this firm. All have been great, business Terry Carlton, Estate planning Margie Winfield, and business trademarking Vason Hamrick. All very professional and trusted.
On May 12th, I contacted Jordan Price Wall Gray Jones and Carlton to get Legal advice about a Tenant and Landlord issue I was having, and had the pleasure of speaking with Attorney Kyle Lewis. From the onset of this relationship, I definitely was not disappointed contracting with Attorney Lewis as his exemplary skills in taking on this matter enabled me to reach a satisfactory agreement with my Landlord. Attorney Lewis and Lindsey, thank you both for a great experience with Jordan Price Wall Gray Jones and Carlton.
**BEWARE** There are some incredibly unprofessional and unethical attorneys (Hope Carmichael and Catherine Bryant) in this firm who are paid by developers to pretend to represent HOAs and try to coerce actual residents to vote to give up their property rights and pay for developers’ fees disguising them as HOA fees. I’ve been in real estate for 20 years and have never come across such shady tactics violating NC attorneys ethics and code of conduct. If you are ever contacted by this group, do your research. DO NOT TRUST this firm.
Our HOA was charged for my calling to request copies of correspondence that the firm had with a prior Board Member. The HOA had been charged a large amount and the prior Board Member didn't share anything. I would not be angry about the charge if the correspondence had been sent. But I was charged for them to NOT give me the information that I requested. Absolutely UNBELIEVABLE! I'm afraid of how much I'll be charged to call to dispute the charges.
Hope Carmichael conducted our first virtual HOA meeting this week. She did an outstanding job. Our last in person meeting conducted by our HOA Board of Directors and was chaos, full of armchair legal experts with absolutely no order. She provided an easy to understand interpretation of the law and conducted the meeting according to Roberts Rules of Order and it ran amazingly smooth. Thanks again Hope for making a typically painful experience attending the HOA meetings actually enjoyable.
Weldon Jones exemplifies the worst traits of an ambulance-chasing attorney, demonstrating a blatant disregard for his clients' best interests while prioritizing billable hours over ethical practice. His actions reveal a pattern of predatory legal tactics and incompetence that should serve as a warning to any potential client. Jones has a documented history of providing egregious legal advice to HOA boards, deliberately inflating costs through unnecessary litigation. In one instance, he advised our community's HOA board to bypass mediation in an exterior paint color dispute that clearly violated bylaws, pushing for costly court proceedings instead. It took another attorney's intervention to recommend a practical solution—selecting alternative colors—saving the HOA from squandering funds on Jones' reckless advice. Equally deplorable is Jones' pursuit of a frivolous lawsuit on behalf of the Bedford HOA against a veteran. This case, centered on the veteran's placement of water and dog biscuits on public Raleigh property, was a shameless attempt to inflate billable hours. Jones audaciously argued that the Bedford HOA had authority over public land, a claim so baseless that it was swiftly dismissed by the court. His post-verdict assertion that the HOA retained control over Raleigh public property further underscores his disconnect from legal reality and professional integrity. Moreover, Jones habitually oversteps his authority by issuing cease-and-desist letters for civil matters outside the HOA board's jurisdiction, further evidencing his exploitative approach. His reliance on a billable-hour model drives these unethical practices, marking him as a quintessential ambulance chaser. Avoid Weldon Jones and his law firm at all costs. Their conduct epitomizes unprofessionalism and greed, delivering substandard legal services while exploiting clients for financial gain.
