Atencio Law Office PC

We had a long, hard process ahead of us but Hal and his office helped us accomplish our adoption. It was a step parent adoption so there was a lot involved. Especially because we don’t even live in NM anymore due to military. We live in NC but are residents of NM. So it was not an easy process being so far away. But Hal and his team got it all accomplished. And as of today we received our final decree and our family is complete! I would highly recommend retaining Atencio Law Office for any of your adoption needs. He is a wonderful lawyer and his employees and staff are amazing to work with! Thank you for all you’ve done for us!

This was 8 years ago... but Hal handled a very tricky estate, with some adoption items mixed in, me out of state, and some bs/drama challengers in probate. No hiccups, paralegal April kept me up to date on when I needed to be in state, and everything went well.

I called Atencio Law Office two weeks ago and Hal called me back ready to start a case for me. After giving all the details he told me I would receive an email within the week with a retainer agreement so we could move forward with my case. A week went by and I didn't receive anything. I reached out to the office multiple times. The first time, the secretary never passed on my message about my concern. After calling back the next day she said she would definitely get him my message this time. I received a call from Hal at the end of that week saying I would have a retainer by Monday morning. Two weeks later from my original call, I never received it. I have since hired another lawyer and will not work with Atencio Law Office in the future.

I will change my reviews if they actually do what I have paid them for, but thus far, professional levels have not been maintained. I have provided the same information multiple times, I have requested call backs and Information on my case, and received nothing. I have had things promised and nothing delivered. There have been many excuses (so and so quit, or so and so was out of the office etc) I was patient with a few hiccups, but over the months this has been a HEAVILY repeated theme. I have called twice, once yesterday and once today, requesting details on the status of my case since things that were promised a month ago were not done. Both yesterday and today I was told I would be called back before the end of the day. Business is closed for the night now, and still no call. If I treated my clients with this lack of professionalism and respect, I would no longer have my business. Here is my public review and my statement that I’m giving this firm one more month to get it together, and do right by their clients. If they do, I will add an amendment to my review, but sadly, I fear the "five star" window is closed.

Hal gave my family hope when we had no one to help us. Hal and Amy brought our little girl home!!! I will never use another attorney!!
