Akron Bar Association and Lawyer Referral Service

The Akron Bar Association is a important part of our community. As someone who values transparency and the integrity of evidence, I’ve found their staff, specifically the Referral and Bar Counsel departments to be incredibly professional and diligent so far. I have been conversing back and forth with Mary Jo and a couple others via email and am a complex medical case. They seem to truly care about the people and the ethical practice of law. As I said in an email they have been nothing but "sweet as pie" during everything so far. With that said, It’s beyond refreshing to work with an people who seem to care so much.

Awful place. I reached out to Akron Bar because the county my case was involved in are the ones who hurt me and therefore are being a bunch of liars and covering up wrongdoing. The referred Attorneys via this service that I had reached out to, actually were immature and rude. First one I talked to only heard about 15 minutes of the situation I was involved in and then ultimately just told me "They won't even accept a post conviction at this point." Then the 2nd guy said that I would have to find a constitutional violation, which in my case there was plenty, yet ultimately he also refused to take my case basically stating the same thing the guy before said. Then the 3rd guy I had tried explaining everything and brought up police misconduct due to ignoring my schizophrenic behaviors and using it as their determination of guilt with no testing even administered to my accuser, thus taking his side with no reason. The 3rd attorney said "Everyone claims mental health" which shows an immaturity for discrediting a mental illness I have had my whole life. Don't waste your $30 and don't even give this building your time. They will give you the run around

I’m really starting to think this company is a scam. I paid $30 for their lawyer referral program. I contacted the lawyer they referred me to multiple times and I still haven’t heard back. I tried to contact the company and they aren’t answering either now. I’ve even left multiple voicemails. Read the other reviews and save yourself the headache. I wish I paid more attention. And attached is my receipt for proof. I am trying to dispute now with my bank.

They will rip you off for $30 and refer lawyers that you can just look for online. They’re not useful at all, and the $30 is non refundable. Google is free, and more useful than this service.

Still waiting for a call back from the referral service. It has been 6 days. All I needed was some legal advice for a small issue regarding air bags in vehicles. Want to make sure I am not breaking any laws. Was actually referred here by a local dealership I called to see if they could answer my question. Glad I didn't REALLY need legal help.

I went to location a few months back when they did a bus thing for free consultation. I was literally at the door. Door was locked. But I saw many people in suits. I pushed the call button no reply. If I could see them I know they saw me. No one came to the door or answered the call button. So very disappointing I actually need some help but apparently I won't find it locall

Our business paid the $30 fee for their Lawyer Referral Service on May 28, 2020, but no contact information for any lawyer was ever given to us, and our attempts to contact them over the past several weeks have just resulted in us being put on hold and then forced to leave a voice mail. We contacted several different phone numbers. We were never called back for any of the calls we left. This service is a scam and we will be getting a refund for this charge because we never received the services they were supposed to provide. Update: in regards to the response posted by the Akron Bar Association, I am attaching the emails we received on May 28. We did complete this order and were billed and received a copy of this confirmation. As of today, June 11, 2020, it appears they have double-billed us instead of refunding us. We are not happy with their response as it took us leaving negative reviews and contacting the BBB in order to get a single response from them and finally receive the information of a lawyer to contact. Read their other reviews, this was not an "oversight" due to COVID-19, that is an excuse they are attempting to use. We are not the first ones to have this happen to us.
