Sheesh- where to begin? This firm has been supportive and involved, catering to the needs and questions I have nearly the entire time I’ve been in contact with them. Douglas, Katelyn, Sierra, Lisa and I’m sure others I wasn’t in direct contact with were professional and equivalent to fire fighters in my life. When I say that Doug makes sure you’re aware of ALL of your options no matter the case, I’ll also say that he can tell you your own future. lol. There is such an all-in-one assist amongst their team that I was happy to work with. No regrets from me.

I was put in a position where I needed help very quickly. I didn’t know what could be done. I called this office the minute they opened for the morning. I had Hughes on the phone with me in about an hour. I informed him of my position and he immediately helped me. I’m a single mother and didn’t think I could afford good representation, however he worked with me and within 2 hours of our phone call him and his staff got the document in place that was needed and saved me from what I thought was an nearly impossible situation. I’m truly grateful for all of their hard work. I highly recommend this office.

I have never met a more determined Law Firm than Hughes and Nelson. After having Laura Hughes fight for me and my son in 2012. I knew when I was shopping around for a attorney in 2020 that this law firm which is a sister law firm to Laura was my best hope. I was located in BillingsMT and had to find a local attorney since my case was started in Adam's County. Through the years they did everything possible to help us get reunited with our son. This wasn't a dependency case but it sure felt like one. Even when I felt like this would never end it did finnaly in 2022. Now Ryan Miller is located in Spokane and had to over and over again drive to Adam's County court house fighting this case for me while I was 2 states away. No matter what the task. Ryan and the team of office personal Cruz and Heather went above and beyond. There communication and helping me understand this case no matter how difficult it was everytime I got off the phone I was renewed with hope. Ryan knew the law and researched everything even some new laws that were changed during my case he knew his stuff. Very professional and caring all around. If it wasn't for Ryan Miller and Hughes and Nelson we would have never gotten our 5 year old home. They deal with very tedious and difficult cases many just like mine. Even after the case got dismissed he is still working on the coming up appeal that the other party has filed. So if you want an attorney that is going to fight till the end for what is right. Ryan is your guy. Anybody trying to reunite with their child and you think your up against the impossible. Just know there are attorneys out there that care and that can help you through it all. One thing I really feel to this day about Hughes and Nelson and Laura Hughes that works the sister law firm they are all about one thing. The children and the families that are going up against unfair odds. Our family is forever changed for the better because of these amazing attorneys and the hard work they did and continue to do for our family. I came to Doug as a woman fleeing from domestic violence. He talked a great game about how he would be able to help me for $700 the first time and ending with $700 the second time little did he tell me that I was slowly racking up charges that added up to about $26,000 and they didn’t tell me how or when I needed to pay. I have been under the impression that something different was going to be happening with my case but when I told him I wanted to fight harder, they never did. When I sent them pictures of my sons neglect and abuse at the hands of his father, they said that the case of gotten too complicated and with Drew their services leaving you right before my trial and $26,000 to pay them. I will never recommend Doug or any of his associates to do any job in regards to a family matter. This has been the worst experience on top of them working for me for over a year with nothing to show for it, and they absolutely do not fight hard at all!! I sent them an email just this morning and an email about a day or so ago asking you how much I would need to pay them in order for them to take my case on again and they refused to acknowledge that I even sent them an email or try to call them. They left me with no custody of my child left them in the hands of our abuser, then, when I started demanding them to work harder, they fired themselves. Despicable and I’ll be reporting them to the board for failing to report child abuse while being mandatory reporters. Now CPS is involved in law enforcement is investigating my son’s dad. Be better for your clients or close your business.

I hired Nelson/Hughs firm for a child custody case. I paid the retainer asap. They sent the newest member of the firm to represent me, we went to court one time for a status hearing. They filed one motion that wasn't done correctly. 5+ months later 6k of my retainer nothing they only reached out to me when I contacted them through email. In my opinion you'd save a lot of money not being represented by this firm. I'm out 6k and now can't afford an new attorney to finish this case.

Editing my review now after receiving a final bill. Hughes and Nelson has done a great job for us and there was a miscommunication about billing from an employee they've replaced who didn't effectively pass on the flat fee agreement we had to their billing department. A partner personally reached out to apologize and corrected the invoice for us. We have a wonderful teenager in our care that's now legally ours thanks to the team here. I really appreciate them working with us on the fee for our custody issue and for getting it done competently.
