Moani R. Crowell and Associates

TLDR: It’s interesting that one of the other reviewers stated that Moani is a "tremendously capable attorney" and has challenges like all attorneys do. But not all lawyers also get their license suspended. There’s a reason for her numerous poor reviews on Google and Yelp. Her suspension was due to multiple complaints of misconduct. Moani is easy to talk to. She’s personable, educated and knowledgeable. But regardless of how "capable" she is, her frequent disappearances had negatively affected so many other personal aspects of my life that I regret seeking her services in the first place. - To elaborate, I know that the majority of people complain about the length of time it takes for them to receive a response from any attorney. But there had been numerous occasions where Moani and her staff wouldn’t answer my calls or emails for consecutive months at a time. Being out of state, there was no way for me to visit her office and there had been moments where I began questioning if she were even alive. I wish I were being dramatic, but if you hadn’t heard from someone for 3 months after you invested thousands of dollars (with retainer refills), you might start panicking too. Those were probably some of the most difficult months of my life. Not only was I enduring a seemingly never ending legal issue due to her unresponsiveness, the only person that could help me made herself unavailable. Until she randomly reappeared with a completely new team after I ironically threatened to file a complaint against her to the board. Most recently, I called and sent emails for months on end - again - asking that she confirm when my next hearing was to resolve/find progress with the remainder of my case. After calling the county clerk myself and receiving confirmation, it was the judge that stated that the reason nobody else attended the hearing was because my own attorney failed to communicate that her license had been suspended and the other party was not properly served. Her failure to communicate this was a literal requirement that she "must notify existing clients of her inability to act as an attorney." She can’t even follow this bare minimum order by the Hawai’i Supreme Court to notify her clients of this pretty serious update.

Communication is an essential part of the client and attorney experience and I can say Moani and Christianna did not disappoint. I felt cared for, and I felt heard by Moani. I felt like I had a team of strong willed females pushing me forward to my vision of a successful divorce settlement. I knew Moani and her team had my back during one of the most stressful times in my life. Moani was professional and took the time to explain everything in terms I could understand and gave me her real life expectations when it came to my case. Moani was knowledgeable and came with experience unparalleled to my previous divorce attorney. Moani was able to complete my divorce in one hearing, something my previous divorce attorney could not do in a year! If you desire a strong female advocate who is not terrified to push the envelope and go to trial, then Moani is for you! Moani helped assist in a traffic related issue for me. She was both professional and relatable throughout the entire process. It’s telling when your lawyer makes every effort to help you understand the legal jargon. She clearly is passionate about the work she does and it translates. I would highly recommend her.
