Public Defender

I have received unbelievable amount of support and help from the public defenders office in Fort Collins. They are wonderful people. The receptionist Lecya is unhelpful and combative Other than that, everyone here does wonderful work to keep the community, safe and out of the legal entanglement that would otherwise be pernicious suck on their lives and the local economy. Thank you, fire Lisa.

These people are there to manipulate you into taking a plea deal. My public defender started off immediately telling me about a different case that was lost and by the time I was ready to take it to trial he was yelling at me that I had to take the plea deal cause i couldn't be proven innocent. Afterwards when a complication came up due to a misunderstanding with probation, "transparency". My public defender was incredibly smug and told the judge my court case wasn't gonna take an hour. These people are "supposed" to be people representing you and they are not. Very corrupt system. Do better.

I had a driving case that could have caused me to lose my drivers license for an entire year, but thank god that did not happen thanks to Kate one if the wonderful public defenders in this office, she was able to get my case dismissed due to a wrongful traffic stop in the first place by the Larimer county sheriff’s department. Thanks Kate!!

The worst place to get representation. Haley Benson and Jake Goldstein did not defend me the way they should have when I went to court and now I have a felony charge when there was evidence that somebody else instigated the situation and they fail to present that to the courts. Now my life is ruined and it was like pulling teeth just to even get a hold of them when they would never contact me on their own. I always had to contact them wondering what was going on with my case I was always told to wait and hold off until trial. Trial never happened they just sentenced me. They are unprofessional they will throw you under the bus and they just do not care about the people that are representing. We are just a number to them. But they get paid regardless they just want to get rid of you though if you try to fight back.

They need applications Monday windsday Friday and they are willing to help on any case Kate shurtleff, miss Morscheck, helped me and was happy to assist me with any and all problems I highly recommend them to help on your Case.

Good luck and God bless if you have to have these people help. They seem to be overburdened by their case load, or just don't care. These are lives that matter, the fact that they don't have money for real representation and have to endure the disrespect they show should not be tolerated. I changed my rating due to the hard work Ashley Morris has done to defend my son. There is hope for those needing help if they are respectful of the public defenders and work with them.
