Legal Shield

After I had a stroke my wife left me, while I was still in the hospital. It wasn't fun going through a divorce after being married for almost 30 years. She left me when I needed her the most. Legal Shield has helped save me the extensive cost of legal services during my divorce. As a veteran, it was great to find Legal Shield to help me get my youngest son, on my one week end a month, while I go through the divorce process and move on with my life in a positive direction while attending my university. I love the LS membership, they helped me with my speeding tickets as well.

I've had this subscription for about a year and a half, and there have been multiple disappointments along the way. I’m now on the verge of canceling my account. When I signed up, there was no mention that the attorneys associated with LegalShield would publicly display their affiliation on their websites. This creates a major issue—when using their services to send a legal letter, for example, the other party can easily look up the attorney and see that this is not a true attorney-client relationship. As a result, the legal action loses credibility, which is the opposite of what subscribers expect when they sign up. Another frustrating aspect is the constant upselling. The attorneys (or paralegals) seem more focused on pushing additional paid services than actually helping. After performing a couple of basic tasks, they often declare that the matter is "closed" and insist that further assistance requires hiring them separately—even though LegalShield membership is supposed to cover ongoing legal support. This practice makes no sense and undermines the whole purpose of the service. Finally, the most serious issue I encountered was with a LegalShield attorney who completely mishandled my small claims case by providing the wrong name and address for the opposing party. This mistake forced me to restart the entire process from scratch, leading to additional court fees and months of unnecessary delays. Ironically, it was the free legal advisor at the small claims court who ultimately helped me correct the issue—without the involvement of the LegalShield lawyer. It was a frustrating experience, but at least it taught me an important lesson. At the end of the day, I ended up about $500 and got nothing out of it.
